Homeward bound…

Folks… We have a serious problem with power for our devices! As we packed the car this morning I asked Paul to double check our passports. He kindly agreed to do so but when he then closed the boot of the car, the lock wouldn’t catch 🙁

I lifted out the bag that contained our travel documents and we tried again… result! Only problem then was, do we open it again?? Having lost faith and confidence that the boot would close again we decided that it would only be opened if necessary. Thankfully we have negotiated check-in, passport control and security at the port without having to open it. Good job…. our car is parked on deck for the crossing. Dear only knows what might have happened…. Down side is… we have no overnight bags, chargers, Monopoly Deal, etc, etc, etc… Hey-ho! All part of the adventure. We might even have to talk to one another this evening 🙄😀😊😅😂🤣🤗🤔

Our allocated cabin is number 666 – apparently they don’t do a 13 but they do have 666! It is basic, can’t describe it as anything else. We missed lunch because that was when we had to check in at the port but the restaurants don’t open until 6pm Irish time… #starving #getting pissed!

I will do as much as I can this evening and fill you in on the rest tomorrow!

We have had a wonderful few days with the PSLS friends in Malestroit. Late mornings and even later evenings! Great craic, good food and congenial company.

Malestroit is a medieval town in Brittany, 33kms from Vannes, another one of the 19 small cities of character and a deceptively bigger town than it first looked, sitting on the Nantes-Brest canal. It was formerly part of the pilgrimage to Compostela. It was one of the nicest places we have stayed in, very pretty… There were several restaurants, bars, shops, a market on Thursday, lovely walks along the canal and lots to do near by.

We enjoyed visits to Josselin, La Gacilly and their annual photographic exhibition scattered around the town and the resistance museum at Saint Marcel. I will post some pictures and info on them when we get home.

We ate like kings – even engaging the restaurant across the street to cook our food when our oven wouldn’t work! Proving that the little things our host has helped them with in the past has a payback day!

We have had the most amazing holiday, met some wonderful people and spent time with family and friends.

We appreciate you taking the time to read our blog and for your comments and encouragement. I’m sorry this one is short and sweet! 😊
