Update on Great Uncle George…

For those who followed our blog through France last year you will be aware that we visited the war grave of my Great Uncle George on the 100th anniversary of his death.

In July this year we visited some of the Cathedrals in Northern Ireland with our dear friend Nigel, among them St Anne’s. Now we have taken photographs outside St Anne’s on may an occasion but have never actually been inside. As our visit was drawing to a close Paul drew my attention to a memorial on the wall to members of the “stationery, printing and allied trades of Belfast” – and there on the memorial is the name of Uncle George – of course, his father was in printing so he was likely to follow suit! The Cathedral also the home of Ireland’s Memorial Records and we were able to see the original inscription remembering Uncle George – overwhelmed yet again at the sacrifice of George and so many others in the Great War.
